New Transmitter Installed

Had to install a new transmitter yesterday, due to constant “lost sensor contatcts” in the log file. Just replaced the batteries with fresh Litium ones about 3 weeks ago to no avail.

Below Zero in November for the first time !

Friday morning might have felt like the middle of winter, but unseasonably arctic cold air turned the morning after Thanksgiving to a record-setting cold blast here in central New York.

All-Time November Low Temperature
Syracuse dropped below zero for the first time in the month of November.
This morning’s (11-23-2018) low of -1º (1.3° Fairmount Hills) now the coldest temperature reading in Syracuse for the month of November on record, going back to 1902! Previously, 4º on November 27th in 1938 held the record. This also marks the first time Syracuse has dropped below zero during the month of November since records began.

Earlier Thursday, a high of 16º was the coldest HIGH on that date, also set at 24 degrees in 2008.

Coldest Thanksgiving in Syracuse on Record
The 16º daytime high Thursday was also the coldest high temperature on Thanksgiving Day in Syracuse. The old record was 18º on Thanksgiving Day in 1903.
Later Thursday night, we also set the record low temperature, reaching 5º just before midnight. This breaks the old record of 9º for 1938’s Thanksgiving Day

6th Snowiest November on record

Syracuse has received 22.8″ of snow this month. That makes this November the 6th snowiest on record. November normally brings only 9.5″ of snow on average. With just today to go, this month has been 13.3″ snowier than average.

We’ve been wetter this month, as well. Syracuse has received 6.32″ of rain & liquid equivalent melting snow this month. That makes this November the 5th wettest on record.
